International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, is a worldwide celebration of women’s cultural, social, economic, and political achievements. It is a day to focus on how far women have come. In some countries, this occasion is used to admire, compliment, and honor women. International Women’s Day is a time for activism and protest in other countries. For instance, it is traditional in Italy for women to receive bouquets of bright yellow flowers as a sign of respect, friendship, and gratitude. On March 8, 2021, women in Turkey protested around the country due to an increase in the rate of femicides in the past few years. Women in Nepal get the day off from work, while women in China are given half a day off. Many people in India celebrate Women’s Day and admire all of the work that women do. People in my home country of Pakistan arrange a wide variety of activities. Women are honored with speeches at colleges and universities. Some women celebrate International Women’s Day by wearing new clothes and going out with their families. In honor of International Women’s Day, I want to write about a woman I respect.

The person I admire the most is my mom. She is tall and has brown eyes. Her black hair is long and wavy. She is a very generous and hardworking person. My mother looks after everyone at home and does all of the household chores. She is still the first one to get out of bed in the morning, even if it’s a holiday, and she makes breakfast for everybody. I have never seen her start eating first. She always waits until the rest of the family has their food before getting her own because she wants to ensure that everyone has plenty to eat. She always puts herself last and fulfills the wishes of her family. She makes many sacrifices for her children.

My mother has been very patient and has always been supportive of me. She never scolds me when I fail at something; instead, she tells me of her own failures. She taught me to admire and love everyone, no matter who they are. She leads me through every difficulty of my life. I remember when I had chicken pox, the doctor told everyone to stay away from me or they would get it, but my mother stayed with me and took care of me 24 hours a day. Her unique talent is that she is an outstanding dressmaker and chef. My mother is the one who is really there for me when I am feeling down. When I am upset, she cheers me up and wipes my tears. She is a great listener, and she is always listening to me when I have to share something that is bothering me.

My mother is the most inspirational person in my life. She is always there for me and has told me never to give up, and gets excited when she sees my accomplishments. My mother married young and was unable to complete her studies, but she wishes for me to finish my education. With my mother’s support, I hope to become a doctor and open a hospital in my hometown. My mother always encourages me to accomplish my goals. She is the most caring person I have ever met, and she is the woman I admire the most.
