Zariyah King is a junior and guard for the Berkeley High School girls’ varsity basketball team. While she and her family were living in Georgia, they lived across from a basketball court where her brother would take her to play with him.

The tradition of the homecoming football game first began in the 1910s in American colleges such as the University of Minnesota. This game was designed to have alumni come back to their alma mater to support current students and show school pride.

Sevan Minassian-Godner, a Berkeley High School senior, has used a flip phone for nearly a year. After going to a school retreat in February 2022, he realized how glued people had been to their phones.  “There were people at tables eating or sitting at tables who were just texting each other,” Minassian-Godner said.
