Berkeley High School’s boys varsity soccer team took on Bishop O’Dowd High School on January 21, to cheers of ‘Go Jackets!’  The game kicked off with O’Dowd on the offense, making a shot at the goal, and Berkeley’s goalkeeper, Patrick Devaney, lunging to make the first save of the game.

While Berkeley does not experience extreme winter weather, with daily highs and lows usually in the 60 to 40 degree Fahrenheit range, the temperature change, early sunsets, and rain are still significant factors in the winter training of many Berkeley High School athletes.

NFL Founds “Feel the Orgullo”

Though Latinx Heritage Month is celebrated between September 15 and October 15, the National Football League is using it to jumpstart a longer-lasting program.  The NFL, alongside the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, partnered with Puerto Rican singer Ozuna to incorporate Latinx Heritage Month into its sports season in a program called “Feel the Orgullo.”

On September 28, the Berkeley High School varsity girls water polo team defeated the Castro Valley High School Trojans 10-8 at the Jacket Pool. While COVID-19 protocol restricted the crowd capacity, the game was sold out and fans were cheering passionately.
