BHS junior Emilio Bottrell-Rogers enjoys Spanish Christmas songs. Coming from Mexican heritage, the songs connect him to his family and culture. “I feel like it’s such an important holiday in a lot of Latin America.”
Liam Knudsen, a Berkeley High School senior, holds Adam Sandler’s “The Chanukah Song” close to his heart. “I’m Jewish. So, I always felt more of an affinity for the Jewish holiday songs,” he said. With a love for Adam Sandler’s comedic talents, he was excited to learn he had made an especially comedic song centered around Hanukkah.
BHS freshman Sanah Singh, says her favorite holiday song is “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee. “It’s so surprising that the singer was 13 years old when she sung that song,” Singh said.
BHS senior Jazzy Taylor’s favorite holiday song is “Last Christmas” by Wham! Although she doesn’t really celebrate Christmas, that holiday song endures.“It’s a nice connection to my childhood and also it’s a great song, and I love Wham!”
