Athlete profile: Vincent Longmire

By Sophie Cranley, December 12th, 2025

Berkeley High School senior and BHS wrestling team captain Vincent Longmire reflects on his past four years on the team,  “I think my favorite part of wrestling is the amount of hard work and dedication you put into the sport. It has pushed me to my limits but has shaped me into the person I am today,” Longmire said. With a background in Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu, Longmire started wrestling his freshman year after encouragement from a fellow BHS wrestler. “I fell in love with the sport and it’s been a huge part of my life since,” Longmire said. Longmire thanks his coaches and teammates for their constant support, saying that he will “treasure all the experiences he has had on the team,” and named home matches as his favorite part of the season. The hardest part of the sport for Longmire is its tough mental component, however, it has also driven the most growth for him. “I sometimes hesitate in matches instead of letting everything go and going for it,” he said, “it’s difficult to not think, but when you do, you wrestle amazingly.” Longmire sees his growth from a freshman with no skill to a team captain as his proudest accomplishment. He encourages all students considering wrestling to “just do it.”
