In the wake of the shooting of Renée Good and Alex Pretti by Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota, thousands of protestors showed up at Dolores Park in San Francisco to call for the removal of ICE agents from communities nationwide and to stand in solidarity with ongoing Minneapolis strikes. This protest was part of a national day of action including demonstrations in Minnesota, New York, D.C., and Arizona.
Students from high schools all across the Bay Area walked out of school, including a large number absent from Berkeley High School. On Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, BHS attendance dropped by 20.11 percent from the previous Friday. The protest featured student speakers and a march down San Francisco’s Market Street to City Hall.
