Elowen Andrejko, a Berkeley High School junior, holds a special childhood memory of using American Girl Dolls to act out a YouTube movie with her friend Grace. Andrejko stated while laughing, “We were gonna film a little story that we made up with the dolls, and then halfway through, we just dropped the idea and just ran around while filming.” Although she was only six at the time, Andrejko still recalls her favorite American Girl Doll, Blair Wilson.

BHS sophomore Cecilia Grant is grateful for her two friends Franny Bertolini and Sadie Kayatsky. Grant shared memories of the three of them running in the rain and laughing together. Grant’s favorite thing about Bertolini is her humor and Grant’s favorite thing about Kayatsky is her dancing skills. Ultimately, whenever Bertolini, Kayatsky, and Grant get together, they have fun. Grant says her friends energize her and describes them as “filling her cup.”

BHS freshman Pippa Stanton-Hsiao treasures a memory of her and one of her closest friends, Ivana, going to a Laufey concert together. Stanton-Hsiao shared that the concert was a major bonding moment between her and Ivana because they both enjoy Laufey’s music and they “still talk about it all the time (because) it was just so fun.” Stanton-Hsiao describes Ivana as “the kindest person I’ve ever met,” and wishes they saw each other more.

BHS sophomore Sophia Faith Bolinger’s favorite memory was going to Six Flags on a Longfellow Middle School field trip. Faith-Bollinger likes Six Flags for the rides, but that’s not what she remembers about this particular trip. She recalls dropping her Dippin’ Dots and subsequently hugging a mascot, which she thought was a funny chain of events both then and now. Faith-Bollinger remembers her friends comforting her that day, which makes her feel loved and is a testament to how supportive they are.
