WOTS- What is your football Sunday routine? Who do you watch with, any rituals, foods?

By Idra Elliot, September 26th, 2025

Margaux Rocha, a senior at Berkeley High School, is a dedicated Buffalo Bills fan. Rocha says her cousins and family in Buffalo will go as far as following a longtime Bills tradition to “jump on tables, and break the tables,” Rocha said. Though she chooses to abstain from this particular ritual, she still enjoys buffalo wings on game day and watching with family.

Alani Soto-Vigil-Koon, a BHS sophomore, shares a strong love for the Chicago Bears with her brother and dad. On game days Soto-Vigil-Koon makes sure to wear all of her Bears gear. In addition to paraphernalia, Soto-Vigil-Koon will grab “a snack, like fruit” to enjoy during the game.

Marshall Peagler, a freshman at BHS, counts himself among the fans of the Philadelphia Eagles. On game days, he shows his support by repping green and silver for his team with his go-to “Eagles hoodie.” Peagler also makes watching football a family affair, most typically catching games with his dad and Grandpa.

Nava Boyarin, a BHS sophomore, said, “I only ever watch the superbowl, but when I do, I root for the underdog because I feel bad for them.” She watches football with her dad and sister and will often eat dinner and numerous snacks during the game. Boyarin also said one of her favorite parts was watching the ads and the halftime show.

Zachary Walton, a BHS senior, is a 49ers fan. He watches games with friends and family and loves to chill on the couch, choosing to eat “chicken wings, maybe a hamburger.” When asked about game day routines, he said, “We don't need any specific rituals, but just cheer them on, bring the assignment.”

Benjamin Barlow is a senior at BHS and a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Barlow takes a more casual approach to watching football, occasionally sitting down with his dad to watch a game. As for his favorite Sunday football snack, his go-to is “gas nachos.”
