When lunch rolls around, Berkeley High School students have the choice between free school lunch or indulging in the many restaurants and cafes nearby. That said, the question of where to go for lunch is something many students end up ask themselves or their friends. With dozens of lunch spots to chose from, Downtown Berkeley offers both a wide variety of price points and cuisines.
Cheapest
Coming in at the #1 cheapest spot that still offers decent seating and good quality food is Juno’s Lunchbox. With big slices of pizza for $4-$5, Juno’s is a great place to eat on a budget.
Sandwich Zone, located on Kala Bagai Way next to Arinell Pizza, is a longstanding favorite among students. They offer classic deli sandwiches, Italian subs, tuna melts, baked goods and snacks.
Tastiest
Cholita Linda, a Cuban-Mexican fusion restaurant located on the end of Kala Bagai Way, offers delicious tacos, plates, and sandwiches made using high quality ingredients.
One of the best tasting spots near campus — and also one of the more expensive and busy — is Oori Rice Triangles. They offer quality Asian rice bowls and triangles at a reasonable price.
Closest
The closest restaurant to BHS is without a doubt the taco truck outside the M-Gate. While distance is the most obvious pull, they also offer delicious food at a very affordable price.
Another very close restaurant is Sushinista, which offers sushi burritos, bowls, and other Japanese food. If you want something quick and easy, Sushinista is a great choice.
