At 8:34 PM, on Thursday, March 12, Erin Schweng, Berkeley High School’s principal, informed students of a three week district-wide school closure effective immediately.
A new bill that would allow firearms to be carried in sports arenas was recently proposed in Washington State. The bill was drafted by three Republican representatives in the Seattle legislature: Matt Shea and Bob McCaslin from the Spokane Valley, and David Taylor from Moxee.
This fall, BHS was selected as a pilot school for a new program aimed at improving the detection and treatment of concussion injuries. Concussions are surprisingly common among high school athletes, not only in collision sports such as football, hockey and lacrosse, but also in soccer, basketball and cheerleading.
