SHIFT recruits BHS students to teach sexual health information

Formed at the beginning of the fall semester, AC Speaks! is a new student leadership group for students in Academic Choice to be more active in their small learning community.

African American studies stays strong at BHS amidst bans in U.S.


In 18 U.S. states, including Arkansas, Texas, and Florida, various bills and legislations have been passed to restrict or ban certain high school courses, such as AP African American Studies.

BUSD Sustainability Program and Climate Literacy Resolution work in tandem to ensure bright future for Berkeley students


In 2018, Berkeley Unified School District adopted the Sustainability Program and Plan. The plan covers green buildings & materials, transportation, water, energy, waste, food, schoolyards, and eco-literacy and nature-based education.

The BHS Community Theater is located alongside the A Building.

After long wait, BHS Community Theater soon to be completed


In January of 2024, the nearly four-year-long remodel to the Berkeley High School Community Theater is expected to reach completion. The COVID-19 shutdown delayed construction, but the majority of structural and aesthetic renovations have been completed.

BHS holds  student horror film festival


On Halloween, Berkeley High School showed  short horror films made by students at a film festival in the little theater. Amanda Marini teaches media classes at BHS and has been looking for a way to broadcast her students’ work.

“Slime You Out” by Drake and SZA was released on Sept. 15, 2023, and so far has received mixed reviews. The single is a precursor to Drake’s upcoming album, “For All The Dogs,” set to be released on Friday Oct.

Jazz combos at BHS foster creativity, community, and challenge


The band program at Berkeley High School brings creativity, community and challenge to the people in it. Combos are a combination of anywhere from two to 10 people with a mix of instruments, can be a great way for student musicians to not only practice their instrument, but also to play in a more casual
